Do you offer storage service in December before winter break?
Yes, students can schedule their storage service in advance of their winter break. This can be conveniently arranged online. We provide free pick-up dates towards the end of the fall term in December, and these pick-up dates become available on our website starting in early October.
You can store your items for as long as necessary, whether it's just for the winter break or the entire academic year. Rest assured, we will ensure the safety and security of your belongings until your return to school.
Can I store furniture?
Yes, we can store all types of furniture including items such as beds, dressers, desks, sofas, and chairs. Visit our pricing page to see all the items that we store.
Properly prepare your furniture for storage. This includes disassembling furniture if possible, removing any detachable parts and securing them in a storage box, and ensuring that the furniture is clean and free of any personal items.
Your furniture items will be picked up from your dorm room or a designated location. Be sure to have your furniture items labeled and ready on your pickup date.
How long can I store my things? Can it be longer than a semester?
We offer extended storage options for students who need to store their belongings for longer durations, such as for a full academic year, a gap year, or beyond.
If you need to store your belongings for longer than initially planned, you can extend your storage contract for an additional period.
I no longer want my stuff can it be donated?
Yes, if you no longer want your stored items, we can have them donated for you.
If you plan to donate items, you will need to provide a completed donation form. This will include a list of the items to be donated along with your signature.
Where are my items stored?
Your belongings are securely stored at U-Haul self-storage facilities and professionally managed storage warehouses conveniently located within driving distance of each campus we serve. You always have access to your belongings.
What items can I store?
We can accommodate the storage of a wide range of items commonly found in a student's dorm room, including boxes, furniture, sports equipment, appliances, bicycles, fans, and more. If our college movers are capable of picking it up, we can store it for you. However, please note that certain items cannot be stored, such as combustible materials, toxic substances, perishable goods, live plants, weapons, or wet items.
Are there things I cannot store?
Yes, there are certain items that we do not allow for storage due to safety and logistical reasons. These items include, but are not limited to:
· Combustible materials: Items that are flammable or can ignite, such as gasoline, propane, fireworks, and hazardous chemicals.
· Toxic substances: Materials that are harmful to human health or the environment, including pesticides, corrosive chemicals, and biohazardous materials.
· Perishable goods: Items that can spoil or rot over time, like food, plants, and organic materials.
· Live plants: Due to the need for proper care and maintenance, live plants are generally not suitable for storage.
· Weapons: Firearms, ammunition, and other weapons are typically not allowed for storage.
· Wet items: Items that are soaked, damp, or wet may cause damage to other stored belongings.
We also do not recommend storing the following items as we do not insure them against loss or damage:
There are some things you should not ship or store with Collegeboxes because we do not insure them against loss or damage:
· Jewelry, coins, cash, and collectables.
· Items of intangible value.
· Extremely fragile items (e.g. mirrors).
· Improperly packed items, including furniture that is not adequately wrapped.
Can parents create accounts for students?
Yes, parents have the option to create an account under their student's name. Furthermore, parents can contribute to the inventory and label printing process for their student(s). The Collegeboxes system will also send direct communications to students, including reminders about pickup/delivery times and important service dates.

Are Collegeboxes facilities Climate controlled?
Yes, our facilities are climate-controlled. This means that the storage units are equipped with temperature and humidity control systems to help protect your belongings from extreme temperature fluctuations and humidity levels. Climate-controlled storage is especially beneficial for items that are sensitive to environmental conditions, such as electronics, wooden furniture, clothing, and documents. It helps prevent damage from factors like extreme heat, cold, or moisture. With climate-controlled storage, you can have peace of mind knowing that your items are stored in a controlled environment to maintain their quality and condition.
How many items/boxes can I store?
You can store any number of items; there are no minimum or maximum restrictions. On average, students store between 5-8 items.
Can someone pick up on my behalf?
Certainly, you have the option to designate someone else for the pickup of your belongings from our facility. To facilitate a seamless pickup experience for your chosen representative, kindly provide us with the individual's name in advance.
Can I both store some things and ship some boxes home?
Absolutely, you can make use of our storage and shipping service for both storing and shipping your items. To differentiate between the two, simply categorize the items you wish to store as "storage items" in your online inventory, and those you want to ship as "shipping items." This will generate storage labels for the items you're keeping in storage and FedEx shipping labels for the boxes you intend to send home.

To locate our facility for your school, follow these steps:

2. Select your school from the list.
3. Once on your school's page, scroll down to the 'Belongings Stored Locally Near Campus' section. You'll find the address of our local storage facility listed there.
Can I store items and later have them shipped to a new address?
Yes, you can store items and later have them shipped to a new address. If you're planning to transfer to a new location, you can use our storage and shipping service.
Add the items that you will be storing to your account as “storage items”. When you're ready to have your stored items shipped to your new address, log in to your account. Under the "Delivery" section, click the "Change Location" button, enter your new shipping address and select the date you would like your items shipped. Please note we are only able to ship boxed items and luggage.
This process allows you to store your items with us and then have them shipped to your new address when needed. It's a convenient way to manage your belongings during a transfer to a new location.
Where can I get a receipt?
You can access your receipt through your Collegeboxes account. After logging in, click on the "Profile" tab and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will find a section titled "Receipts" there.
